The aim is to improve the efficiency of government e-services provided to citizens and businesses, increase citizens' digital skills, and increase jobs with digital technology.

The World Bank Group will support on improving telecommunications access in rural areas under the “Smart Government II” project.

On April 02, 2026. Mr Myagmarnaran, Acting State Secretary of the MDDIC, together with Mr. D. Tsenguunjav, Project Director of the “Smart Government II” Project, Ms. B. Enkhdulguun, Integrated Project Coordinator and relevant officials, received the World Bank Mission delegation led by Mr. James Neumann, Practice Manager for Digital Development for East Asia and Pacific, World Bank.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr.B.Myagmarnaran underscored a tangible contribution of the World Bank Group for advancing the Government of Mongolia`s “Digital First” policy through the “Smart Government II” project and expressed his appreciation.

The World Bank mission team also extended its special congratulations to the MDDIC, the Project Coordinator, and the Integrated PIU team for achieving rapid progress in the implementation of the ‘Smart Government II’ project within a short period and for fully implementing the objectives provided in the project’s Mid-Term Review recommendations.

As part of the mission, the parties exchanged views on potential collaboration for conducting studies and pilot project in the areas of improving telecommunication access in rural areas, expanding investment in fiber-optic infrastructure, and advancing data infrastructure, computing, and applications of artificial intelligence.

During this mission, World Bank consultant Jan van Rees will conduct a field trip to rural areas to experience the current situation of rural telecommunications on site.

The mission, aimed at providing support under the World Bank-financed “Smart Government II” project implemented by the MDDIC, will last for five days.
